Hermione stared into the fire, unsure of what she was going to say. First of all, she hadn't been talking to Ron for like months now. With her talking to him, it felt like she was throwing up the white flag and telling him that she was being the first to say she was sorry. Saying sorry for something that she had no real idea of what. She didn't see the point of saying sorry for something Ginny had said to him. She had no control of that. Second of all, she didn't think she could do this. She was a Gryffindor of course, but this seem to require a lot of bravery on her part. She would be making the first move but she already had...twice. She had told him at the Yule Ball two years ago that he should just ask her to the dance next time instead of waiting. And she had then this year even asked if he wanted to go to Slughorn's party with him. He had agreed after his ridiculous behavior and then he decided to get with Lavendar which screwed everything up.
And finally, what if he didn't feel the same way? Ginny was sure that he did but Hermione wasn't. He didn't act like it. They were always arguing and always over something little. That whole cat and rat deal was stupid. He should've just taken better care of his rat. If he did, then he wouldn't have to blame it on her cat. Crookshanks wouldn't do that anyways. It was a gentle creature that she loved. But Ron had to be such a git about that whole ordeal. There had been plenty more arguments over sujects like Viktor. She still didn't know why he had a problem with him. He said it was out of mere protection but she didn't buy a word out of it. She didn't understand why he couldn't get it through that thick head of his that they were just friends.
She was starting to have second thoughts about this. It wasn't seeming like a good idea to agree to this. She had forgotten that Harry and Ginny were in the room while she ran this all through her head. She assumed that they had just left off for their walk. But she was brought back into reality when she heard a voice that she wished she didn't. She didn't turn toward him, seeing as they both weren't currently talking. She didn't want to put out her white flag and surrender. He needed to apologize first before she even started talking to him. But if she didn't say anything, then Ginny might. She really didn't want Ginny to open that mouth of hers at the moment.
She took a deep breath, turning slowly in Ron's direction. She didn't know what to say to him. And just seeing him there in the common room just wanted to make her run up to her dorm room and get away. But she kept her feet firmly planted on the ground, jaw set as she glared at him. It was just habit since she had been doing it all year. She knew that this argument should never have started and it should've ended a long time ago. But it hadn't and Hermione didn't want to be the one to apologize first. It was like admitting that he was right. She hated admitting she was wrong. Anyways, she figured that it really was Ron who was in the wrong.
She pursed her lips, afraid that her voice might give her away. She said firmly, keeping her compusure,"Ronald, we need to talk." It was a simple sentence but she still had no clue what she was going to say. She wanted them to be friends again but it was so hard to be friends when he randomly started ignoring her. And Harry not even knowing why...well thats what he said.

Ron looked at Hermione forgetting that anyone might be there. He ran a hand through his shaggy hair. What did she have to talk about? If this was about Lavender then he didn't want to hear it. She would just have to get over that he had found someone. She was the one who started this all, if she would just have never gone out with Krum the dumb dumb or lectured him about it. Then they would have been fine. but, no she always had to have her say about everything. Well, he wasn't giving up Lavender it was her time to endure what he had endured.
Besides, lavender was a fantastic kisser. He couldn't seem to stop kissing her and the way that she handled herself was amazing. The Slytherins seemed to never know what hit them when she stood up for him and their friends. Friendship was the perfect start and he was starting to wondering whether Hermione was even right for him. But, why would his thoughts be filtered with both her and Lavender?
"What is it you need to talk about?" He asked nervously and took a seat next to her.

Hermione was nervous. And she was rarely nervous about anything. But this wasn't like a test of some sort. This was dealing with her feelings that should've been dealt with a long time ago. Maybe all of this could've been avoided if she had just told Ron how she felt. But then she might ruin their friendship though currently their friendship was put on hold. This was one of the first times they had talked in months now ever since he had started dating Lavendar. She could tell that he was nervous too just by the sound of his voice. She had him memorized with her being his best friend since first year and loving him for what felt like forever.
She needed to do this. But where to start? she asked herself. She couldn't just come right out and say it. Well she could but she would probably end up running to her dorm room or he might freak out. No, she couldn't do that. She didn't think she could do this. She couldn't even believe she had agreed to this. She might as well as let Ginny tell him and they deny the fact. She could be a successful liar if she had to and she was so sure that he didn't feel the same way anyways. He was dating Lavendar Brown after all and not Hermione. Even after he agreed to go to Slughorn's party with her. She may have yelled it at him but he did agree. It was the one moment that she actually thought that he might like her back. It all went up in smoke though a couple days later when he suddenly started ignoring her.
"I just wanted to tell you..." she started, pondering if she want to tell him or not. She was a Gryffindor and she should have the courage to do this. "...that we're off on Slughorn's party. Cause well you know..." She looked down at the ground, shuffling her feet. She could feel the tears brimming in her eyes. She couldn't do this. No way in merlin could she confess to Ron on how she felt. And there was no point of wasting her breath when he didn't like her back. Ginny could go ahead and scream it to the heavens all she wanted. Hermione woud just deny it. She was done, she thought. She was done arguing with Ron. Done with this mess that he was causing her and all the pain. She was officially done.
She couldn't do this anymore. It was killing her inside and she was starting to have trouble paying attention in class. She had to cut him out of her life. It was best for her and him. He could have his wonderful relationship with Lavendar and Hermione could try to move on with her life. There was no more hope that he would ever notice her. Though it was going to be hard not seeing him since he was best friends with Harry, his sister was Ginny, and he was in the same house and year. But she was going to make the best out of a bad situation. She needed to turn over a new leaf and it had to start now.

Ron watched Hermione, for some reason she was nervous. That wasn’t anything like she usually was, and her nervousness was only making him more nervous. He continued to crack his knuckles and run his hand through his hair. “If this is a bad time, we could talk some other time. I should go and find Lavender anyways.” He said without thinking. He had begun to ramble, it was something that he found comfort in. You couldn’t take not saying anything back and well he suppose saying too much too, but in his mind you could always make up for the things you said only by saying more. Right?
He quirked his eyebrow at her. No way had she gotten so nervous about Slughorn’s party. She must really think that he was dense if she thought that lowly of him. “Hermione, that’s not what you wanted to talk about. You and I both know it. So quite playing me for a troll and be honest here.” He said with a slight scowl. “Look I know that we haven’t been talking or rather you haven’t been talking to me but I would still consider us mates, so why don’t you just tell me the truth already. Or we would have wasted both of our times and I’ll go back to Lavender and Quidditch while you go back to your books. I can forget you ever wanted to talk to me while you forget… well me since you had no problem doing that the last few months.” He said with a scowl.
It was then that he began to stand up and looked between the boys dorm and the door out of the common room. He wasn’t sure where to go and he still wanted to give Hermione a chance to speak. He cared about her far more than he liked to admit. But, she was the one calling the shots. She always had been.

Storming away rather angrily, Harry marched out of the Great Hall and turned on his heel's, walking towards the Grand Staircase. He had just told some Slytherin kid off, after he made a intense amount of unesscary teasing towards him. Harry was tired of being 'The Boy Who Lived', in most times he thought of just going somewhere far off. Somewhere where his was name was'nt known. But that would be hard, they'd more than likely put out a search for his sudden disappearence. Harry greeted two third year Gryffindor kids, walking up the stairs beside him. His schoolbag hoisted over his shoulder. since the strap broke. Harry inhaled and exhaled, pure anger exhalting from his breath. He looked around, peering over the egde after hearing the voice of the Slytherin with he had just had a argument with. Harry reached into his pockets, drew his wand and clenched it tightly. Gritting his teeth, he looked around..making sure no prefect or tattle-tell ghosts (Peeves) were around.
Unfortunately it was'nt the Slytherin, just a group of Hufflepuff girls. Harry sighed, stuffing his wand back into his robe pockets he stopped in front of the Portrait and spoke the password. Climbing through the portrait hole, which had extended over the years. Harry climbed out,his head colliding with the rim of the stone as he exited. Stumbling and having problems regaining his balance for a moment, Harry was in the center of what seemed to be an argument. The two people were his best friends in the whole wide world, he basically considered them his brother and sister. Harry tossed his schoolbag to the ground and leaned against the wall, trying to make his prescence known by coughing rather loudly.
"Having a little scuffle, are we?". He spoke.

Hermione had to keep her feelings down at the sound of Lavendar. She shook her head, knowing what she needed to get out. Unfortunately it wasn't coming out. She couldn't do it and inside, she felt like she had failed. Hermione wasn't one to fail but for the first time in her life, she was unable to do something. She was unable to tell Ron how she really felt. Like it would matter anyways, she thought bitterly. Now all she was left with was bitter thoughts. She had finally gotten out a sentence but not what she wanted to say. And Ron was right, for the first time. This wasn't what she wanted to talk about but this is where he went all wrong.
She quickly fixed a glare on him, putting her hands on her hips. She was furious now for Ron pinning this whole thing on her. It was him that had started ignoring her first. He had out of the blue started ignoring her and now he was saying that it was her. Oh no, she thought. And though he wanted to give her a chance to speak, the way that he was looking back and forth to the door told her that he just wished to leave. Probably to snog Lavendar, she thought disgustingly. Though now she wasn't going to admit anything, part of her wished that it was her that he was snogging. Even though he was blaming this whole entire no talking argument on her and that he was being such a git. What a surprise! she thought.
"Now you look here, Ronald," Hermione said fiercely, jabbing a finger into his chest angrily. "I don't think you're a troll at all but you don't really care what I think anyways. You're too busy snogging your precious girlfriend! Aren't you her little Won-Won?" she continued in a mocking voice. "And just for your information it was you that started ignoring me! I didn't even say a word to you, not even an argument that day and I get the silent treatment from you. Not even Harry could explain your sudden coldness to me. So don't you go blaming me for this whole non-talking period when it was you that gave me the cold shoulder. I had a better chance talking to Malfoy than you these past couple months." She took a deep breath, trying to compose herself.
"And if you wish me to forget you, then fine. That doesn't bother me," Hermione huffed, crossing her arms. She turned to see that Harry had now entered the common room. "Scuffle with who?" she asked as if Ron wasn't really in front of her and that she had been jabbing fingers at his chest the whole time. If Ron wanted her to ignore him, then so be it. He could go suck Lavendar's face off. This dicussion was completely and totally pointless. What she wanted to say didn't come out and instead ended up in another pointless argument that would probably only push them farther apart.
